This study investigates how linguistic philosophers in ancient Indiaconceived of "Sentence Meaning" through an analysis of Sanskrit texts. Based on my past studies, in this study, I have analyzed the text of the "self-commentary" of the 2nd Chapter of the Vakyapadiya written by Bhartrhari, a linguistic philosopher in 6th Century India. And at the same time, I have tried to make a critically edited text by using XML mark-up while checking the manuscript. Consequently, I have reached the conclusion that Bhartrhari's theory on "Sentence Meaning" should be understood in a holistic context : the whole is not the sum of its parts, and it is only within the context of a sentence (whole) that a word (part) has its meaning.

本研究通过对梵文文本的分析，探讨古印度的语言哲学家是如何理解“句子意义”的。在我以往研究的基础上，本研究分析了印度6世纪语言哲学家Bhartrhari所著的《Vakyapadiya》第二章的“自我评注”文本。同时，在检查手稿的同时，我尝试通过使用XML标记进行批判性编辑。因此，我得出的结论是，Bhartrhari的“句子意义”理论应该在一个整体的语境中理解：整体不是部分的总和，只有在一个句子（整体）的语境中，一个词（部分）才有它的意义。
