We aim to reveal roles of alpha-chimerin Rac-GTPase activating protein(GAP) in formation and function of neuronal circuit in the mammalian brain. We generated global and Cre-mediated conditional knockout mice of alpha-chimerin. Furthermore, we generated knockout mouse lines specific to alpha1 and alpha2 isoforms. By analyzing these mice behaviorally and histologically, we found important roles of alpha-chimerin in hippocampus function.
