To investigate the functional roles of cytoplasmic protein tyrosine phosphatase Shp2 in the brain, I have generated adult forebrain specific Shp2 conditional KO (cKO) mice by the use of Cre-LoxP system. The effect of Shp2 ablation on the brain functions is now being examined in the cKO mice by the use of several behavioral tests. In this project, I have also investigated a signaling mechanism of tyrosine phosphorylation of SIRPa, which is a major binding protein of Shp2 in the brain, and found that cold-stress induced tyrosine phosphorylation of SIRPa in the brain.
