The Genealogy of "National Culture" by the Modern Japanese "Volksgeist" : A Comparison with Germany

本研究基于日本和德国在1870年左右至第二次世界大战的“现代”时期，在思想潮流和历史背景上有许多共同点和对比特征。通过对哲学和文学研究中接受德国思想文化并体现为日本近代时代精神的批评家的文章，阐明了“大众精神”理论从“民族意识”到“现代的克服”的内容。然后指出了“民族主义”的抬头与“民俗学”的进步之间的相关性。

This study is based on that Japan and Germany have many common points and contrast aracteristics in their tide on thoughts and their historical background, in the times called "modern" from around 1870 to World War II. I clarified the content of the "Volksgeist" theory from "national awareness" to "overcoming of modern times" by considering the article of the critics which received German thoughts and culture through the research on philosophy and literature, and embodied in modern Japanese Zeitgeist. Then I pointed out a correlation between the uplift of "nationalism" and the progress of "folklore".
