Search for the mechanism of corneal epithelium stem cell deficiency by bullous keratopathy

We could create a rabbit model of bullous keratopathy, by removal of the rabbit corneal endothelium, causing a artificial bullous keratopathy. Our result suggested that the bullous keratopathy increased turnover of the corneal epithelium. The long-term bullous keratopathy may produce the corneal epithelial stem cell depletion and limbal dysfunction.
