A study on the effect of authoritarian personality on the civic participation in the justice system

通过本研究项目的实施，受赠者跟踪了1950年代S之后关于威权主义人格的一系列社会心理学研究，对1980年代S发展起来的右翼威权主义人格进行了日文翻译，揭示了这些人格量表与社会对公民参与司法制度的态度之间的关系。当然，这些研究结果与该学科的其他一般研究一样存在局限性，但本项目可以为理解威权人格以及人格与公民参与司法制度的社会态度之间的关系开辟一条新的途径，并为未来这些主题的研究奠定坚实的基础。

Through conducting this research project, the grantee followed the series of social psychological studies on authoritarian personality after 1950's, made Japanese translation of the Right Wing Authoritarian personality which has been developed in the 1980's but not known in Japan, and revealed the relationship between those personality scales and the social attitudes towards civic participation in the justice system. And the grantee shed some light on the relationships between basic personality traits like Big Five and authoritarian personality, and between judgments on some fictitious criminal cases, behavior during mock deliberation and authoritarian personality.Of course, those results of the studies have limitations like other studies general in the discipline, but this project could hew a new way of understanding the authoritarian personality and the relationship between the personalities and social attitudes towards civic participation in the justice system, and build a firm foundation for future researches on those topics.
