A Comparative Study of the Role of Education in the Formation of Musical Culture and the Perception of National Culture between different Generations and Cultures

For the purpose of clarifying the role of school education in the process of cultural globalization and hybridization, literature-based study and questionnaire-based study were conducted. The results indicate that modern Japanese cultural policy has created a new national musical culture but the influence has not reached people' s private musical lives and that in Thailand, where state did not play an active role in cultural transformation, both collective and individual musical identities are dominated by Western-style popular music.
