本研究の目的は「ムスリマ(イスラーム教徒の女性)によるイスラーム言説の創出および利用の実態を、彼女たちの日常実践と法識字レベルとに注目して明らかにすること」である。本年度の研究では、1)イスラーム言説にかかるムスリマの主体的活動について研究するとともに、2)2011年に起きた革命といわゆる「アラブの春」についての情報収集と分析を行った。本年度は具体的には、1)イスラーム言説の利用について、女性説教師の活動を事例として、権威というキーワードを用いて論じた英語論文を完成させた。この論文はオランダ・ライデンの著名な出版社、ブリル社から刊行された論文集に査読を経て掲載された。この本にはインデックスの語句の選定・語句説明の執筆、アラビア語の英語表記の方法等の決定、分担執筆など、論文だけではなく包括的な形で関わった。MLを立ち上げ、世界各国をフィールドにする多国籍の他の執筆者とEメールで意見交換しつつ、決定し、分担して執筆する過程で、学術的な国際的ネットワークを築くことが出来たことも今年度の成果である。2)アラブの春で宗教界が果たした役割について、現地紙等を資料にキリスト教、イスラームについて整理・分析を行った。日本語で読める、宗教界にフォーカスしてアラブの春を分析した研究はなかったため、本論文はアラブの春を多角的に理解するため、一定の貢献をしたといえよう。(嶺崎寛子「エジプト、1月25日革命を読む-宗教の視点から」『国際宗教研究所ニュースレター』70.東京:国際宗教研究所、pp.11-16)。
