External Impacts on Cultural Formation in Ryukyu and Okinawa:Focusing on the Age of Ancient-Medieval Mixture

本研究从有必要根据奄美地区考古学的最新进展来修正琉球群岛的历史情况这一观点出发，重新审视了从18世纪九宿时代开始的琉球政权形成过程。在这一时期的社会和文化形成中，包括移民在内的外部影响比冲绳的内部发展发挥了更重要的作用。

This study re-examined the process of the Ryukyu government formation beginning with the Gusuku times in the eighteenth-century from the standpoint that it is necessary to revision the historical circumstances of the Ryukyu Islands in accordance with the recent advancement in archaeology of the Amami area. It was clarified that external impacts including immigration played a more important role than internal development on the Okinawa Island in social and cultural formation in this period.
