本研究は、日韓において1990年代以降教勢を拡大させた宗教を対象に、社会変動が宗教間格差問題に及ぼす影響とその構造を明らかにし、格差問題の包括的解決のあり方を提示することを課題としている。具体的には、初年度(平22年9月～平23年3月)に、先行研究をもとに日韓において90年代以降に教勢を拡大した宗教団体の動向を把握し、2年度目には、各宗教によってどのような信者階層に分化しているのかを分析し、社会変動(日韓の歴史や社会的背景)とのかかわりから明らかにし、3年度目には、異なるタイプの宗教団体との比較を通して、宗教の格差問題がどの方向に進行していくのか考察し、宗教間格差の構造を解明することを目指している。これまで本研究は、90年代以降、日韓両国において宗教がどのような役割をしているのかについて、社会的背景への検討と実態調査の両面から明らかにすることを目的に調査研究を行ってきた。また、最終的には、その実態の解明から現代社会における宗教の階層的展開のあり方を提言することを目指した。最終年度である本年度には、前年度までに行ってきた調査内容をまとめ、それを多方面からアドバイスを得て検討する作業を行った。そこで不足している点や不明確な点に関しては、面接調査を再び重ね、データを補う作業を行った。その際、日本国内にだけではなく、類似する宗教状況・格差問題を有する韓国の階層格差も視野に入れ、より幅広い観点からの議論を目指した。本人が参加している複数の研究会で報告を行い、そこに参加した研究者から有益なコメントを集約することができた。さらに、最終段階として、全体の成果を総括すべく、宗教間格差を導く要因から宗教の階層的展開のありようを提示しようと努めた。これら研究成果は今後、学会発表を経て学術誌への投稿を予定している。
