项目摘要

無料オープンソフトウェア(FOSS)とは、希望する者には誰にでも、ソフトウェアの可読形式のソースコードにアクセスできるようにするものである。これにより、ユーザーはソフトウェアを無料で共有したり、固有のニーズに合わせてカスタマイズすることができるようになる。本研究の目的は、サハラ以南アフリカにおける持続可能な開発のため、FOSSテクノロジーの可能性と影響を調査することにある。具体的には以下となる。1.サハラ以南アフリカの公共サービスや民間セクターにて広く利用されているオープンソース技術およびサービスについて深い理解を得ること2.政策立案者を対象としたガイドラインや指標を提供し、経済発展や持続可能な発展を促進するこ3.サハラ以南アフリカに対するオープンソースの研究と研究革新ロードマップ(RIR)を概略すること。RIRは、実施をITCに依存している協力やリサーチの優先順位を特定することによりまとめることができる本研究はケーススタディ、非構造的インタビュー、オンライン質問票からの量的・質的データを使用し、サハラ以南のアフリカの発展における公的・私的セクターでのFOSSテクノロジーとサービスの潜在的な影響を調査した。本研究の成果として、共著本「Freeand Open Source Software and technology for Sustainable Development」を出版することができた。また、本研究は複数の賞を受賞したほか、30以上のジャーナル、学会、国際会議等で研究成果が発表されている。
