项目摘要

今年度の研究では、輝度が空間的に変動する領域(分節領域)内での明るさ処理メカニズムを、空間的体制化(複数の対象を知覚的にまとめ上げる働き)との関連から解明するという研究全体の目的達成に向けて、これまで得られた実験結果を総合的に考察・検討した。今年度の成果としては、空間的体制化の生じ方を操作することによって分節領域内での明るさ処理も影響を受けるという研究結果に基づき、網膜像からの物体の切り出し(網膜像内の異なる領域をまとめて単一の物体として捉える働き)と分節領域内での明るさ処理の関連性を指摘し、論文として国際誌に発表したことが挙げられる。具体的に、分節領域内での明るさ知覚は、単一の物体としてまとめられた領域の輝度から強く影響を受け、その他の領域の輝度からの影響をあまり受けない。この知見より、空間的に分節された領域の中においては、単一の物体内で明るさを決定する処理方略を視覚系がおこなっている可能性が示唆される。日常場面において、単一の物体を取り囲む領域は文脈によって大きく変化するため、こうした処理方略を用いることで視覚系が物体の安定した明るさの決定を維持していることを本研究成果は示唆している。また、論文では分節領域内での明るさ処理と既存の明るさ処理モデルとの関係についても議論した。それらに加えて、分節領域内での明るさ処理に関する代表的な仮説の適切性を検討した研究も国際誌に発表し、さらに、強度の異なる領域間に生じる輝度エッジの知覚処理に関する研究も国際学会で発表をおこなった。

This year's research is aimed at achieving the goal of integrating the results of the study into the field of spatial dynamics (subsection field) and spatial institutionalization (multiple object knowledge).
