项目摘要

2010年度は、これまでの研究を発表し、今後の研究の方向性をより具体的に定める準備を行った。前半は、主に、これまでの研究成果の発表に努めた。「セルマ・ラーゲルレーヴ『エルサレム』の「周縁」性」では、これまでの研究の軸となる概念「周縁性」を総括すると同時に、新たな分析対象『キリスト伝説集』におけるユダの身体的特徴を分析し、「ユダヤ人」の表象研究の開始点とした。後半は、ラーゲルレーヴ『ボルトガリエンの皇帝』を軸に、「狂人」に関する口頭発表および依頼原稿の執筆を行った。この研究では、「狂人」を「脚部障碍」と関連付けて論じることはできなかったものの、北欧文化の重要な背景であるキリスト教と太陽信仰の混在したあり方を、一般読者に理解できる形で、かつ批判的に論じることができた。本研究計画の課題は、「脚部障碍」と関連付けた各テーマがそれぞれ広がりを持つため、必要な情報・資料が膨大で、論が煩雑になる恐れがあることであった。2011年2月・3月は、ドイツおよびスウェーデンに渡航し、研究計画書のドイツ語訳・スウェーデン語訳をもとに、外国人研究者らとディスカッションを行い、今後の研究に関する具体的な助言や、資料の情報提供を受けた。また、非公式ではあるが、論文のスウェーデンでの出版に関する可能性を提示された。更に、これまでの研究成果「日本における北欧受容」に関して、スウェーデン語で口頭発表を行った。この発表では、日本人研究者として、スウェーデン人研究者に対して、ラーゲルレーヴや北欧文学の新しい見方を示すことができたのみならず、日本近代史に対する興味を喚起することにも成功した。
