今年度前半は、イタリア、ローマ大学のTorella教授の指導の下、研究を進めた。ローマ大学では、ウトパラデーヴァやアビナヴァグプタと同時代のヴィシュヌ教徒ヴァーマナダッタの『サンヴィットプラカーシャ』の授業に参加した他、学生たちとアビナヴァグプタの『パラマールタサーラ』を読む機会を得た。アビナヴァグプタ著『主宰神の再認識に関する反省的考察』認識章第五日課および第六日課の読解は終えたが、未出版注釈『主宰神の再認識に関する反省的考察注』については、写本の欠落等により、写本校訂および読解困難な箇所が残っている。また、部分的に現存するウトパラデーヴァ著『主宰神の再認識詳注』の断片を写本のマージンから回収している。これらの難読箇所の読解については、Acharya教授の協力を仰いだ。『主宰神の再認識詳注』の断片については帰国後、西日本インド学仏教学会学術大会およびJapan-Austria International Symposium on Transmission and Tradidonにおいて発表した。さらにウトパラデーヴァとアビナヴァグプタの関係についての発表をインド思想史学会で行った。これらの発表内容については、プロシーディングおよびJoumal of Indological Studiesに投稿予定である。またシヴァ教研究の世界的権威であるSanderson教授の授業にも参加する機会を得て、最先端のシヴァ教研究について新しい知見を得るとともに、『パラートリーシカー』の写本伝承などの情報を交換することが出来た。
