これまで,クロロジメフォルムに闘争抑制効果があり,また致死性を示さないことが明らかになりオクトパミン経路が攻撃性を抑制する可能性が支持されている.オクトパミンの他にドーパミンやセロトニンなど他の生体アミン類の作用を調べたが,これまでのところ影響が検出されておらず,攻撃性はオクトパミンが主要な制御因子であることが示唆されている.また,歩行活動性などの攻撃以外の行動の影響の検証が勧められており,予備的ではあるが薬剤は歩行活動量等の通常行動には影響せず,攻撃性を特異的に変化させることが示唆されている.勝ち癖・負け癖があると,自身の角サイズにかかる選択圧が,行動の変化を介したフィードバック機構によって調節され,勝ちやすい個体は角を大きくするが負けがちな個体は角を持たないような表現型多型の進化を促進すると予想でき,個体ベースモデルを用いた計算機シミュレーションを展開中である.これまでの試行錯誤から,角と体サイズの関係(リアクションノーム・反応基準)を不定関数によって評価し,世代ごとに変異を与えることで進化シミュレーションを行う有効性が明らかになった.本手法では特定の数式に制限をうけることなく反応基準(角-台サイズの関係性)の進化動態を観察できる利点がある.これまでに,闘争の勝率への体サイズと武器サイズの影響,および勝ち癖・負け癖の影響を考慮し,仮想の相互作用(闘争)を経験させて武器形質の進化動態を解析する準備が整った.
