本年度は学会発表一件、論文投稿(査読付、掲載確定)一件、アウトリーチ活動一件を行った。学会発表は京都ユダヤ思想学会において、「"名"を取り戻す、"名"を追いかける-『メアム・ロエズ』研究序説」という題名で行い、雑誌「一神教世界」に「『メアム・ロエズ』研究序説-書名考」という題名で投稿した。1492年を頂点としてイベリア半島から追放されたスペイン・ポルトガル系ユダヤ人の子孫であるセファラディーム(ヨーロッパ系ユダヤ人のアシュケナズィームと対比される)はユダヤ・スペイン語、あるいはラディーノと呼ばれる言語を、大部分の移住先であるオスマン帝国領内で維持することになった。そのユダヤ・スペイン語宗教文学史上燦然と聳える作品が本年度の発表及び論文投稿で扱った『メアム・ロエズ』である。『メアム・ロエズ』はヘブライ語を解さないユダヤ教徒のために、彼らの母語であるユダヤ・スペイン語で書かれた作品であり、1730年に『メアム・ロエズ創世記』が上梓されて後、セファラディームの精神的ルネサンス、およびユダヤ・スペイン語文学の黄金期を惹起することとなった。本発表及び論文はこの作品に関する本邦初の研究であり、イスラームの家において庇護民として自治を許され、比較的穏やかに暮らしたセファラディームの「一般的宗教教養」を明らかにする先駆的な研究である。予想されるように本書には、周辺のイスラーム教徒からの影響(特に民話)等も見出せることから、文学的・比較宗教的見地からも重要である。そのような歴史的意義はとりもなおさず、「ヘブライ語を解さない非エリートが知るべき『ユダヤ教』のエッセンスを与える」というコンセプトで編まれた本書を、比較的ユダヤ教に対する認識が浅く包括的な啓蒙書が不足している日本に紹介するという活動は大きな意義を持つと考えている。
