ザクロ石中の石英包有物が保持している残留圧力から変成状態を定量的に推定できるようにするため,数値計算モデルを用いたアプローチを行った.得られた計算結果は,天然の高圧及び低圧試料の測定結果と調和的であった.一方,中圧試料の測定結果と計算結果はあまり一致しなかったが,従来の地質圧力計では見積もる事の出来なかった累進変成作用時の記録が,石英ラマン圧力計によって得られている可能性が示唆された.低温領域に適用可能な炭質物ラマン温度計の開発に取り組み,従来の地質温度計では見積りが困難であった150℃から400℃までの温度領域をカバーした手法を提案した.これは,地質構造や変成履歴を検討する上で非常に重要なツールになり得ると考えられる.また,炭質物の温度上昇に伴う構造変化に関して経験的な考察を与えており,地質学のみならず,化学や生物学,工学の分野においても参考になる成果であると考えられる.四国三波川帯別子地域の変泥質岩中に含まれるザクロ石中の石英が保持している残留圧力をラマン分光法で測定した結果,多くの試料はエクロジャイトと同程度の高い圧力を保持している事が明らかになった.また別子地域の変泥質岩中に含まれる多くのザクロ石は,三波川帯で一般的とされているMnベル型累帯構造ではなく,複合累帯構造を示す事が明らかになった.これらの結果は,堆積物が海洋プレートと共に,エクロジャイト相程度の深部まで沈み込んでいた可能性を示唆している.この成果は,沈み込み帯の物質循環を考える上で新たな見解を与えており,地震発生や火山活動,沈み込み帯の上昇機構を考察する上で,重要な成果であると言える.上記の成果は,国内学会において,口頭,及びポスター発表を行った.そしてこれらの結果をまとめて学位論文とした.
