项目摘要

今年度は、1.博士論文の執筆、2.前年度の成果の発表、3.1を基にした発展的研究を行った。1. 本研究は、相反する2つの振舞いを示す英語の統語現象を扱い、その語彙的・語用論的要因を明らかにすることを目的とする。まず、今年度はそれを博士論文にまとめることを最大の目標とした。扱った現象は、発話様態動詞のthat節補文の振舞い、状態変化動詞の目的語省略、動作表現構文の他動性、そして、同族目的語構文の受動化の4つ。本研究ではCulicover and Jackendoff(2005)の並列構造理論の修正、拡大を提案し、その新たな理論的枠組みのもとで原理的な説明を行った。この枠組みの大きな特徴として、言語現象の統語・意味・談話機能という3つの側面とその複雑な相互作用を表示することを目指すものであり、それらいずれか一つにのみ重きをおいた多くの先行研究とは大きく異なっている。本研究により、無標の統語的振舞いと有標の統語的振舞いが、当該現象の統語・意味的特性と、談話機能との相互作用によって生じるものであることが、具体的なデータを基に明らかになった。これを全7章360ページほどから成る博士論文としてまとめた。2. 次に、前年度の同族目的語に関する研究成果を英語論文として発表した。また、本研究で得られた成果を基に、日本語の「手が大勢の観客から一斉に振られた」のような身体行為構文の受動文も、統語・意味・談話機能の相互作用から説明できることを明らかにし、学会発表を行った。3. 1.を基に、提示機能を表す場所句倒置構文など構文と動作主性の関係や、結果構文における目的語省略について、先行研究を概観し、記述的研究を行った。これらは今後の研究の足がかりとして現在進行中であり、口頭発表あるいは論文の形で発表する予定である。
