本年において私は以下の研究成果を上げた。1、都市の構造と失業者の求職活動、就業者の転職活動が互いにどのように影響しあうのかを考察するために、新たな数理モデルを構築した。この数理モデルを用いた考察によって、(1)都心に住む労働者のほうが転職活動を行いやすい、(2)郊外には比較的年齢の高い労働者が居住する、一方都心には年齢の若い労働者が居住する、という現象を包括的に説明できた。また、(3)効率的な不動産市場の存在によって、転職活動は最適な水準になる、という規範的な命題も示された。一般に不動産市場は、情報の非対称性や不完備契約等の要因によって、非効率性が大きいとされている。1は、このような非効率性の要因を排除することは、不動産市場のみならず、労働市場の健全化にも大きく寄与する可能性を示唆している。また1の帰結の多くは実証可能であり、これまであまり重視されてこなかった、都市構造が労働者と企業のミスマッチに与える影響についての実証研究を進めるうえで、大きな指針になると思われる。2、労働者を採用するか否かについての意思決定が、集団で行う場合と個人で行う場合とで、どのように変化するのか経済実験により明らかにした。実験の結果、集団で意思決定を行う場合、人々はより労働者を採用しやすくなる傾向があることが明らかとなった。この結果の持つ含意は、労働者の採用以外にも、家族向けのマンション市場と学生向けのアパート市場の違い等にも応用可能であると考えられ、大きな意義のある研究である。
