本研究の目的は思春期に中国から来日した中国帰国者の来日約25年後のアイデンティティをインタビューを通じてさぐるというものである.1年目の平成21年度には4人のインフォーマント全員にインタビューを行い、その結果をすべて書き起こし、データとしてまとめた.また、参考文献の収集も行った。2年目である平成22年度は引き続き参考文献収集を行うと同時に、4人のインフォーマントのうち2名が自らの人生を振り返って書いてみたいと申し出ていたので、執筆を依頼した。そして、書かれたものは、研究の考察を行う際のデータに加えた。インタビューの結果とインフォーマントにより執筆されたものから、来日後約25年が経過しているが、中国と日本の狭間に立たされて揺れるアイデンティティを持つことがわかった。また、今回得られたデータから、4人のインフォーマントの中で比較的安定したアイデンティティを持つと思われていたものが、実はそうではないこともわかった.さらに、近年国際化が進んでいると思われがちな日本社会にはまだまだ異質なものを受け入れなけという風潮が根強く残っていることも浮き彫りになった。来日、10年、18年目、そして、今回の24年目と3回にわたって同じインフォーマントにインタビューを行ってきたが、このような長きにわたって、行われたアイデンティティをさぐる追跡研究はほかにみられないので、貴重なデータが得られたと思っている。2010年11月には多言語・多文化社会研究全国フォーラム(第4回)で研究成果を発表する機会に恵まれた。2011年2月にはすべての得られたデータを収めたデータベース的な報告書を作成した。その報告書をもとに研究論文を執筆し、2011年度には学会誌等に発表していきたいと思っている。
