During the early twentieth century, filmdom in China and other Asian countries was strongly influenced by foreign cinema, particularly American. In recent years, the interactivity between Chinese and Western cinema has drawn attention from scholars both in and outside China; related works have continuously been produced using primary historical sources. However, these studies are still deficient in at least three aspects: interdisciplinary approaches; accumulation of research outcomes, particularly in the film industry; and diversity of historical resources. By overcoming these deficiencies, this research established a new analytic aspect in Chinese film history and conducted preliminary surveys. The necessity of rethinking the generally accepted premise that foreign cinemas suppressed the Chinese cinema market was submitted as the most important result of this research.

在世纪早期，中国和其他亚洲国家的电影界受到外国电影，特别是美国电影的强烈影响。近年来，中西电影的互动性引起了国内外学者的关注，相关的作品也不断地出现。然而，这些研究至少在三个方面仍存在不足：跨学科的方法;研究成果的积累，特别是在电影业;和历史资源的多样性。本研究在克服这些不足的基础上，建立了中国电影史研究的新视角，并进行了初步的考察。本研究最重要的成果是提出了对外国电影院压制中国电影市场这一普遍接受的前提进行反思的必要性。
