Reference Ontology of Function based on Interdisciplinary Approach and Interoperability of Functional Knowledge

功能性是人工制品和生物器官知识表示中的一个重要概念。许多研究领域提出了许多定义。它降低了不同领域之间的功能知识的互操作性。本研究采用跨学科的研究方法，对功能的定义进行了分类，并厘清了它们之间的关系。在此基础上，建立了上层的功能参考本体。它增加了功能知识的互操作性。研究结果表明，一个统一的核心功能定义的可能性。然后，通过新的科学研究补助金，开始了这方面的研究。

Functionality is a crucial concept in knowledge representation of artifacts and biological organs. Many definitions have been proposed in several research areas. It decreases interoperability of functional knowledge between different domains. In this research, adopting interdisciplinary approach, those definitions of function have been categorized and the relationships among them have been clarified. Then, an upper-level reference ontology of function has been established. It increases interoperability of functional knowledge. The research results suggested the possibility of a unified core definition of function. Then, research toward this direction with a new grant-in-aid for scientific research had been started.
