Multicultural Awareness of College Teachers and TheirEducational Practices: Comparative Study of Japanese Language Education in Japan, US, and Germany

本研究的主要对象是具有多元文化意识的高校教师：他们在什么样的环境中生活、学习和工作？他们在教学实践中看重什么？通过对日本、美国和德国的民族志访谈、问卷调查和观察所获得的数据进行分析，本报告1）揭示了具有多元文化意识的教师的社会文化背景以及他们在工作场所如何被定位为语言教师; 2）进一步发展了2007-2009年探索性研究中提出的新的质的研究方法。更明确地思考研究者的观点。

This research focuses on college teachers who are aware of multicultural issues: In what kind of environment have they been living, learning and working? What do they value in their teaching practices? By analyzing data obtained through ethnographic interviews, questionnaires, and observations in Japan, US, and Germany, this report 1) reveals social and cultural background of the teachers with multicultural awareness and how they are positioned as language teachers at their work places, and2) further develops a new qualitative researchmethod, which was suggested in the exploratory research in 2007-2009, that cogitate researchers' perspectives more explicitly.
