We aimed at developing a methodology to build a lifestyle for a sustainable society byexploring a relationship among environmental consciousness, lifestyle and CO2 emission.We surveyed traditional concepts of the environmental consciousness and lifestyle of theJapanese and Maori, and made a proposal for the effective utilization of carbon footprint asa tool to build the lifestyle for the low-carbon society.
