项目摘要

本研究は、都市新中間層生成期の「娘」教育における遊芸の位置づけ及びその機能を明らかにすることを目的とする。考察の対象としては、ピアノ、ヴァイオリンといったモダン文化との比較が可能な遊芸として、箏、三味線、琵琶といった楽器を据えた。本年度の成果は、以下の通りである。第一に、1900～1920年代の女性の職業準備としての遊芸習得について記述のある婦人・少女雑誌記事、職業案内書の内容を整理した。その結果、高収入がゆえに虚栄的なイメージもつきまとった洋楽の女流プロよりも、主婦役割を逸脱しない程度に収入を稼げる遊芸師匠の方が、良妻賢母像に親和的な職業として扱われており、その結果、「娘」期からの和楽器習得が、より修養的な役割を担わされたことが示唆された(「明治後期～大正期女子職業論における遊芸習得の位置-楽器習得に着目して-」『文化経済学』9_2、2012年ほか)第二に、婦人・少女雑誌付録の絵双六に関する所蔵状況を整理し、内容の分類を試みた。検討の結果、「娘」の将来像が良妻賢母か職業婦人かによって、また、同じ未婚女性であっても、「少女」と「令嬢」という理想像の違いによって、習得が期待される楽器の和洋が異なることが明らかとなった(「20世紀初頭の女性雑誌付録絵双六にみる『楽器定義のジェンダー化』過程-雑誌の対象年齢層に着目して-」女性と音楽研究フォーラム12月例会、於、中野区勤労福祉会館、2012年ほか)。第三に、本研究の背景となる、女性のアマチュア芸術文化活動のネットワーク化や、それに対する社会的まなざし、階層性について考察を重ねた(「女性芥川賞作家としての重兼芳子-カルチャーセンター・主婦・高女世代-」『「女性文化人」の社会的形成に関する歴史社会学的研究(稲垣恭子研究代表、平成22年度～平成24年度科学研究曹補助金(基礎研究B)研究成果報告書)』2013年ほか)。
