项目摘要

本研究の目的は、現代政治理論や西欧政治思想史を参考にして、国学、とりわけ申請者が「近代国学」と称した柳田國男、折口信夫、保田與重郎の思想を位置づけ直すことである。そのため、平成24年度は「共同体」と「親密圏」との相違の問題を考察することに主眼を置いた。これをふまえ、平成25年度は折口の「親密圏」や柳田の「イエ」がいかなる性格を有していたのかを再検討した。これを受けて、平成25年度も当初の研究計画に沿って研究を続けた。西欧、主として英仏の政治思想を手がかりに近代日本における国家、中間集団(神社)の関係を考察・応用して「近代国学」を政治思想史的に位置づけるというのが最大の問題関心であった。しかし近代日本の場合、西欧とは異なり、天皇・皇室の存在が政治思想史上でも大きな役割を果たしている。そこで、近代日本の天皇・皇室とそれらと密接に結びついた「国家神道」のあり方を特徴づけるものとして、皇位継承に着目した。とりわけ折口信夫の女帝論に着目し、折口の同時代人であり相互に影響を及ぼし合っていた喜田貞吉、高群逸枝の女帝論と比較した。神道の信仰の中核に女性の聖性を据える点で、折口の女帝論は特徴的であると判明した。その成果が、「『女帝考』とその周辺」である。また、来訪神や共食などの儀礼を重視した信仰のあり方を分析して一般向けエッセイとして発表したのが、「思想・文化問題としての捕鯨・イルカ漁問題」である。以上のように、平成25年度も当初の研究計画を発展させて成果を出すことができた。今後は、信仰における女性の聖化と公的空間からの女性の排除がなぜ近代日本において起こったのかを含めて、近代日本の国家形成と国学思想についての研究を進めていきたい。
