In Japan, men’s small contribution to household chores has been pointed out as one of the causes of low fertility rate. With regard to this issue, the contribution by men is considered to be determined not only by the present condition, but also by the experience in childhood. Thus, this study investigated the determinants of time allocation of children and the effect of past experience on the time allocation of adults. The results show that (1) the experience in childhood affects the time allocation of adults and (2) the involvement of parents, the number of siblings, and the birth order are important for the time allocation of children.

在日本，男性对家务的贡献很小，这被指出是低生育率的原因之一。关于这个问题，人们认为男人的贡献不仅取决于目前的情况，而且取决于童年的经历。因此，本研究探讨了儿童时间分配的决定因素和过去的经验对成人时间分配的影响。结果表明：(1)童年经历影响成人的时间分配；(2)父母的参与、兄弟姐妹的数量和出生顺序对儿童的时间分配有重要影响。
