Ireland provides an interesting example for examining the transition of an imported variety of English. It has experienced adoption of English firstly as a foreign language and eventually as a first language, via the status of second language; Ireland has nurtured and systematized its own grammar as Hiberno-English. This property becomes an important reference point in the study of World Englishes. This proect has examined the dynamism of Hiberno-English, contact-induced grammatical formation, and speakers' sociolinguistic awareness, based upon my regular fieldwork. The proect has undertaken a primary investigation into Hiberno-English in relation with World Englsihes, as well as with creoles.

爱尔兰提供了一个有趣的例子来考察英语的一种外来变体的转变。它经历了英语作为第一外语，最终作为第一语言，通过第二语言的地位;爱尔兰已经培育和系统化自己的语法作为Hiberno-English。这一特性成为世界英语研究的一个重要参照点。本项目基于我的日常田野调查，考察了Hiberno-English的动态性、接触引发的语法形成和说话者的社会语言意识。本项目对爱尔兰英语与世界英语以及克里奥尔语的关系进行了初步的研究。
