油棕生产具有较高的盈利能力，是缓解农村贫困的有效途径。然而，种植园公司的一些大规模土地开发成为公司与农村社区之间纠纷的原因，因为土著人民的土地权利有时被剥夺而没有得到任何适当的补偿。本研究通过案例研究和对棕榈油公司的问卷调查，阐明了棕榈油公司与印度尼西亚农村社区之间合作项目的效果和挑战。

Oil palm production is an effective way to alleviate rural poverty because of its high profitability. However, a number of large scale land developments by plantation companies become a cause of disputes between the companies and rural communities because land right of indigenous people was sometimes deprived without any appropriate compensation. This study clarified the effect and challenges of collaborative programs between palm oil companies and rural communities implemented in Indonesia by case studies and a questionnaire survey to palm oil companies.
