Pause insertion and its effect in spontaneous speech and read speech

从声学角度分析了5名日语本族语者在自然言语和朗读言语中插入停顿的效果。自发言语的特点是句内停顿的数量较多(是朗读语音的三到四倍)，停顿之间的话语块较短(大约是朗读语音的一半)。在自发言语中，语速快的人往往使用较长的句间停顿，而语速慢的人倾向于使用较短的句间停顿。在自然语言中，音调往往更加单调。

The effect of pause insertion in spontaneous speech and read speech of five native speakers of Japanese was analyzed acoustically. Spontaneous speech was characterized by a larger number of intra-sentential pauses (three to four times the number in read speech) and shorter utterance chunks between pauses (about half the size in read speech). In spontaneous speech, fast speakers tended to use longer inter-sentential pauses, while slow speakers tended to use shorter inter-sentential pauses. The voice pitch tended to be more monotonous in spontaneous speech.
