项目摘要

2011年度に行った「ヒューリスティックスCan-Doリストの項目の選定」に続き、今年度はその妥当性の研究に着手した。具体的には日本の中学校、高等学校における３つの授業を観察、ビデオによって記録し、これまでと同じようにCOLT observation schemeにて分析を行った。更に、言語選択についてのインタビューを授業実施者に行い、英語・日本語を使用している理由やコードスイッチなどについてを尋ねた。結果としては、１「大学受験などへのプレッシャーが少ない授業であればあるほど英語使用の割合が多くなること」、２「Tian & Macaro(2012)のような先行研究で言われるように、日本語使用に関する指導者の判断の基準に『コミュニケーション重視の授業なのか、文法訳読的な授業であるのか』ということが特にはっきりと区別されているわけではないだろうということ」、３「教師の日本語使用に関しては、生徒の不安を和らげる役割があり、そのため日本語を使用することで学習者の英語使用を促進させる効果があること」などを明らかにした。この内容は2012年12月7日にシンガポールで行われた5th CLS International Conference at the National University of Singaporeにて発表し、国内外の多くの研究者との意見交換などを行うことができた。今後の課題などは残るものの、本事業が停止となるため、科研費研究としては中途で終了してしまうことが残念なプロジェクトであると思う。

In 2011, we started our research on the appropriateness of the project.
