A Study Exploring Models of Instructions Focusing on the Relationship among Letters, Sounds, and Meaning of the Words, and Materials for Early Eng;lish Education in Japan

本研究旨在了解阅读恢复计划的概念和教学方法，并探讨如何将其应用于日本小学生英语教学。 阅读恢复计划强调教授单词的语音、字母和意义之间的关系，以帮助提高学生的阅读和写作能力的重要性。 本研究运用阅读恢复计划的原理，对日本五、六年级学生进行英语教学。 结果发现，学生对字母和声音之间关系的认识提高了，他们习惯了用英语进行阅读和写作。 研究还表明，日本学生需要学习字母，声音和意义之间的关系，以成为熟练的英语。

The purpose of this study is to learn the concept and teaching method of Reading Recovery Program and to explore how to apply it to English teaching for elementary school students in Japan. Reading Recovery Program emphasizes the importance of teaching the relationship among sounds, letters, and meaning of the words to help improve the students' reading and writing ability. It also proposes that the students' background knowledge should be activated to promote learning.In this research we taught English to the 5th and 6th graders learning English in Japan by applying the principles of Reading Recovery Program. It was found that the students' awareness of the relationship between letters and sounds increased and they got used to reading and writing in English. The research also shows that the Japanese students need to learn the relationships among letters, sounds and meaning in order to become proficient in English.
