Colonial tourism in modern Japan and imaginative geographies of Northeast Asia

东北亚地区（朝鲜半岛和中国东北地区）是近代日本海外旅游最热门的目的地，日本殖民地的扩张促使许多日本人前往这些地区旅游。日本旅行者旅行所到地区的想象地理（地理意象和理解）可以通过各种渠道在日本本土回归并传播。本研究以当时出版的游记著作为参考书目，从空间和历史两个角度考察其行程和旅行者的归属，并考察他们的旅行经历与想象地理的关系。大多数旅行者都是被动地以类似的行程进行往返旅行，对日本对该地区的影响和统治进行了肤浅的观察，并从殖民地的角度塑造了富有想象力的地理。

Northeast Asia (Korean Peninsula and Dongbei Area of China) was the most popular destination of the modern Japanese oversea tourism; The expansion of Japanese colonies encouraged many Japanese people to visit the areas. Imaginative geographies (geographical imageries and understandings) on the areas that the Japanese travelers made through their trips could be come back to and circulated within the mainland of Japan with various channels. Making a bibliography on travel writings published as books in those days, this study investigates their itineraries and the attribution of travelers both spatially and historically, and examines relationships between their travel experiences and imginative geographies. Most of travelers had round trips passively with similar itineraries, made superficial observations on the Japanese influences and domination on the areas, and shaped imaginative geographies from colonial viewpoints.
