项目摘要

Two things have been done simultaneously. One, to search materials and methods that were applicable to current research, I attended East Asian Law and Society Conference 2011 in Korea for the first year. For the second and third years, I invited American scholars to Japan to discuss their research. Two, it was imperative that participants must be general public, so it was Internet based. Because of time limitation, it was not possible to add the role of judges. Independent variables were: 1) the large or small discussion group (about 12 or 6 men and women), and 2) Case A or B (actual trial materials modified for experimental purposes), which they decided. Dependent variables were the group decision that the defendant was guilty or not guilty, their individual decisions, and the like. Participants barely exceeded 100, and the more were desirable. However, it seems that there were important findings, although we did not have as many statistically significant results as we wanted.

两件事同时进行。第一，为了寻找适用于当前研究的材料和方法，我参加了2011年在韩国举行的东亚法律与社会会议。第二年和第三年，我邀请美国学者到日本讨论他们的研究。第二，与会者必须是一般公众，因此它是基于互联网的。由于时间限制，不可能增加法官的作用。自变量为：1）大或小的讨论组（大约12或6名男性和女性），和2）案例A或B（为实验目的修改的实际试验材料），由他们决定。因变量是被告有罪或无罪的群体决定，他们的个人决定，等等。与会者勉强超过100人，而且人数越多越好。然而，似乎有重要的发现，尽管我们没有得到我们想要的那么多统计学上显著的结果。
