本年度の研究実施状況としては、近世期公家歌人の画賛活動に関する研究の３年目として、画賛をより実際に即して考えるために、｢和歌｣｢書｣｢画｣全体を広くとらえることを目指し、現存する江戸期の画賛や絵画、歌人と絵師との関わりなどにも目配りを行い、｢画｣と｢賛｣の両面から画賛をバランス良くとらえることを重視する方向へと進めた。本年度の具体的な成果としては、まず、近世中期を代表する堂上歌人、日野資枝の画賛活動を取り上げ、資枝の子・日野資矩が編集した詠草集『先考御詠』収載の自詠画賛約800首の傾向を分析することで、公家画賛の典型と言える画題、詠み振りについて考察した。門弟の記した聞書『和歌問答』に記された、古歌を書きつける画賛の記述からは、絵画に対する資枝の深い造詣や考え方、門弟への指導の様子などが知られ、余技とも言える画賛制作に対しても、資枝が厳密な態度をもって取り組んでいたことを論じた。これにより、これまで知られることのなかった公家歌人の画賛観を明らかにすることができたと考えている。また、近世和歌画賛史の完成を目指し、草創期にあたる近世初期の画賛に関しても考察を行った。それまで屏風歌では、色紙形や色紙に和歌が書きつけられてきたが、桃山期に和歌を屏風などに直書き、大書きするという流行が起こり、それが和歌画賛の成立に深く関わっているのではないかという仮説に基づき、その中で寛永の三筆と称される近衛信尹の位置を確認した。さらに、和歌画賛の草創期にあって、その形成に深く寄与した人物である丸光広の作例には、のちの和歌画賛では後退していく、歌・書・画が一体となって作り上げる、伸びやかで高度な芸術性が達成されていることを示した。これらの成果により、本研究の最終的な目標である｢近世における和歌画賛の発生から終焉までを見通した和歌画賛史を完成させる｣ことを前進させることができたと考えている。
