项目摘要

本年度も、熊本県阿蘇郡高森町の風鎮祭、長崎県南松浦郡新上五島町有川郷の十七日祭りで演じられる俄について、当該地域にそれぞれ2週間程度滞在しながら、当該地域のなかでいかに演じられ、祭りのなかで付与されている役割について調査を行った。風鎮祭の事例では、大正末から昭和初頭にかけての地域の経済発展が祭礼に大きく影響を与え、祭礼の主な担い手である青年組織もこの時期変化した。現在も高森の「ある」一部の青年たちが向上会に所属し、俄を演じることの背景には、この時期の青年組織の変化が大きく影響していることがわかった。十七日祭りの事例では、十七日祭りの由来譚をもとに、周辺地域に伝承されている類似の祭礼由来譚と比較検討しながら、十七日祭りの伝承の背景に御霊信仰があり、その鎮魂儀礼として俄の奉納が行われていることを指摘した。これは風流芸能の特徴を顕著に表しており、祭礼で演じられる俄は風流芸能に位置付けられることを指摘した。また、今年度も昨年度に引き続き、上記の地域以外で伝承される俄について悉皆的に調査するため、福井県大飯郡高浜町の高浜七年祭、高知県室戸市佐喜浜町の佐喜浜八幡宮秋祭で奉納される俄について参与観察を行った。俄の悉皆調査については、この2年間で主要な伝承地についてはほぼ全て調査を行うことができた。
