项目摘要

本研究の目的は、失われた根本説一切有部の〈経蔵〉（阿含経典）の実態を、現存する〈律蔵〉を通じて解明すること、根本説一切有部の聖典成立過程における〈経蔵〉と〈律蔵〉の関係を解明することである。二つの重要な未公刊写本資料の調査許可が得られたため、当初の課題とした「雑事」のみに対象を限定することなく、写本が利用可能となった「薬事」「破僧事」をも含めて研究を進めてきた。まず「雑事」については、同章の一説話の研究を“The Story of Dharmadinna: Ordination by Messenger in the Mulasarvastivada-vinaya”と題して Indo-Iranian Journal 誌の査読を受け、受理された。これは、「使者による受戒」という尼僧の特殊な受戒形式に関する諸部派の記事を比較し、根本説一切有部律の伝承の特異性をあきらかにしたものである。査読者のコメントを受けて稿を改めるにあたり、「雑事」と説話集『カルマシャタカ』所収の並行話との関係を明確化し、後者の編纂過程に関する假説を提示しえた。また「薬事」に関する研究は近年発見された写本断片群に関するものである。同写本群のうち、『根本説一切有部律』「薬事」に相当する百の断片の約三分の一について、ローマ字転写および平行資料との比較にもとづく註記を完成した。これにより、従来知られていた唯一のサンスクリット写本であるギルギット写本の缺損部分がかなりの程度補完しうることになる。また「破僧事」に関しては、サンスクリット写本をもとにローマ字転写テクストの作成を進めた。この過程で、従来使われてきたラニエロ・ニョーリによるテキストのさまざまな不備があきらかになった。またシェーン・クラーク博士の編集による『根本説一切有部律』ギルギット写本の写真版公刊にあたり、平行資料対応一覧表の作成に協力した。
