项目摘要

インドネシアのジャカルタとパランカラヤにおいて、資料収集とインタビュー調査を行った。ジャカルタでは国立図書館、国家法律発展局、インドネシア大学の文書館で、インドネシアの宗教制度に関する法令や関連資料の収集を行い、インドネシアの宗教制度の成り立ちを調査した。パランカラヤでは、カハリンガン・ヒンドゥー教大評議会（MBAHK）において、カハリンガン公認化に関する資料と集会等の資料を収集し、カハリンガン公認化過程と現在の活動を明らかにした。また、新聞記事と民主化以降新たに結成されたカハリンガン団体のメンバーへのインタビューから、ヒンドゥーからの独立を目指す運動について調査した。これらの調査を通し、儒教の公認化や、身分証の宗教欄をめぐる議論など、インドネシア民主化以降に生じた新たな宗教状況を背景に、カハリンガンの中にも多様な見解と運動が生じていることが明らかになった。また、地位確立運動のなかで、カハリンガンの信者たちは、カハリンガンがヒンドゥーと統合すべき根拠、逆にヒンドゥーから独立すべき根拠、公認宗教化されるべき根拠を考案し、様々なカハリンガン解釈を展開させている。運動を通してカハリンガン信者は自身の宗教に対する見解を再形成し、変化させていることがわかった。以上の調査結果は、インドネシア国家による「宗教」の定義と、人々がなにを「宗教」として考えているのか、それがどのように構築されてきたのかを考え合わせ、検討するうえで意義あることである。
