项目摘要

当研究員は当該年度の研究として、主に２つの研究を行った。１つ目は、前年度末に行った南米・コロンビアのコネヘラス氷河におけるフィールドワーク調査の分析であり、２つ目は、2015年３月に行った、南米・チリのパタゴニアのグレイ氷河における次年度に向けてのフィールドワーク予備調査である。当研究員の研究計画は主に熱帯アフリカ・ルウェンゾリ氷河を対象としたものであるが、３年間の１、２年目において熱帯アフリカの研究を行った上で、比較研究として当該年度はアフリカと同じく熱帯高山氷河が存在する南米での比較研究を主に行ったものである。まず、コロンビアの氷河の分析の結果として、熱帯アフリカのルウェンゾリ氷河の雪氷微生物生態系とは全く異なるものであることがわかった。また、チリ・パタゴニアの氷河においては、今までにフィールドワーク調査を行ったウガンダ・ルウェンゾリ氷河、コロンビア・コネヘラス氷河、そしてボリビアの氷河群などに比べ、氷河の大きさが全く異なるものであり、現在まだ分析に取りかかっていないが、結果も全く違うものとなるのではないかと思われる。当研究員はウガンダ、コロンビア、チリなどにおいて現地施設などとの関係も作ることができたため、次年度以降、より迅速に、短期のフィールドワークを複数行うことも可能だと思われる。３年間で実施した複数のフィールドワークの結果をまとめ、また幾度かの短期フィールドワークを補完的に行うことにより、研究の一定程度の完成が期待できるものと思われる。
