今年度はその10カ月間をドイツでの在外研究と同地での史料調査に充てた。その結果、以下の成果を得た。１）戦後ドイツ復興の系譜を、1933年以降のドイツ系亡命者という存在を媒介として、史学的に解明し得た。その際主たる手掛かりとしたのは、彼らの、ヴァイマールから亡命期に至る新聞メディアとの、及び戦後占領ドイツにおけるラジオ放送への関わりであった。２）戦後西側占領国のドイツ「再教育」政策の内実と多様性とを、政策レベルにおいて整理しなおすとともに、実践段階における当初計画との齟齬及び占領国間での相違について、史料面からアプローチすることに成功した。その際、其々の亡命者がたどった思想的遍歴や、亡命経験、連合国の占領政策への参加といった個人史的要素が前景へと出ることとなった。今後新聞史料や占領国側の関係文書を補うことで、より総合的な分析が可能となるに違いないと考えている。３）在外期間中のドイツ人研究者との知的交流を経て、サウンド・ヒストリーという新たな鉱脈を発見するとともに、日独比較史へと至る道筋を認めるに至った。両者は博士論文研究終了後、次の研究テーマへと取り掛かる上で、重要な土台となるとともに、同研究が萌芽し花開く上での豊かな土壌となろう。４）ドイツ及びヨーロッパの関連研究者たちと確たる信頼、協力関係を結ぶことに成功し、次の在独研究への足がかりを固めるに至った。この間複数の翻訳業務や学会コーディネート業務にも関わっている。５）在独日本人留学生の定着、学習補助という経験を通じ、国際交流という観点から研究、教育活動を捉え直すとともに、今後その経験とそこで得た見地とを活かす素地をつくった。これら成果は業績数の限定性という点で、短期的には着目されづらいものである。しかしながら、中長期的には、今後の研究における重要な土台を作り、今後の国際的な研究、教育活動の道筋をもたらす重要な成果であった。
