暗黒物質対消滅過程などの非平衡現象には、しばしば熱効果が関係する。そこで本年度において私は、熱効果についてよりよく知るためにも、カーバトン模型に対する熱効果を調べた。カーバトン模型とは、インフレーション模型の一種である。暗黒物質を含む模型はしばしばインフレーション模型と深く関わってくるために、カーバトン模型を調べることは、暗黒物質研究において重要である。今回私は共同研究者らとともに、カーバトン場の崩壊率に対する熱効果が、宇宙の曲率揺らぎ生成にどのように影響するかを調べた。まず、カーバトン模型において従来用いられてきた即時崩壊近似を適用し、解析的に熱効果の大きさを見積もった。次に、δN形式に基づく数値的な手法を用いて、熱効果の大きさを評価した。その結果、従来の即時崩壊近似による解析解は曲率揺らぎを過剰に見積もってしまうことが分かった。また、崩壊率に対する熱効果は曲率揺らぎに高々数パーセントの変更しか与えないことが分かった。この研究の成果については、現在論文の形に執筆中である。インフレーション模型は暗黒物質研究と深く関わっているが、ある種のインフレーション模型では、曲率揺らぎを正確に評価するのが困難である。例えばハイブリッド型のインフレーション模型では、ポテンシャルが平坦になっている部分をインフラトンが通過するとき、場の揺らぎが大きくなるために曲率揺らぎを評価する従来の手法が使えない場合がある。一方で、場の揺らぎの古典化に伴う困難を回避するために、しばしばストカスティック形式が採用される。このストカスティック形式では、場の揺らぎはランダム力として取り入れられ、大きな場の揺らぎも扱うことができる。今回私は、共同研究者らとともに、ストカスティック形式における曲率揺らぎの定式化を行った。とくに、単純化した状況の下では、今回の定式化が従来の(ランダム力を扱わない)定式化と無矛盾であることが分かった。この研究の成果は、既に査読付きの雑誌に掲載済みである。
