项目摘要

本研究課題では、主観的判断における系列効果の生起要因を明らかにすることを目標として研究を行った。系列効果とは、順番に呈示される刺激に対して量的な評価（光の明るさ・音の大きさなど）を行うと、個々の刺激に対する評価が直前の評価に近づくようにバイアスが生じるという現象である。本研究では、顔画像に対して魅力度の評価をするといった高次判断を行ったときに、物理特性の評価の場合と同様に系列効果が生じるのか、あるいは物理属性に対する判断プロセスとは異なった判断のプロセスを経るのかという問題を検討し、系列効果の生起要因について考察することを目的とした。実験では、顔画像に対して魅力度の評価を行ったときの、先行する刺激への評価と現在の刺激への評価の関係を調べた。その結果、(1) 顔の魅力度評定においても、物理特性の評価の場合と同様に系列効果が生じること、(2) 顔の魅力度評定では、先行する顔画像と現在の顔画像の性別が異なるときには、同じ場合に比べて系列効果が弱まることを明らかにした。採用最終年度である本年度ではさらに、系列効果のカテゴリ依存性の生起要因が、刺激特徴間の類似性の要因によるものか、評価フレームの切り替えの要因により生じるかを検討し、系列効果のカテゴリ依存性は、性別カテゴリによって評価フレームを切り替えるトップダウン的な要因により生じることを示した。この研究成果について、The 2014 meeting of Theory and Methodology in Configural Perceptionの海外学会において発表を行った。またこの研究成果は日本基礎心理学会の優秀発表賞を受賞し、“Effects of gender membership on sequential dependencies in facial attractiveness judgments.”というタイトルでThe Japanese Journal of Psychonomic Science誌に掲載された。
