Generation of a novel research area "sex difference in cardiovascular system based on XY chromosomes"

对某些疾病的易感性和对药物的反应存在性别差异。这部分归因于Y染色体上SRY基因决定的性腺不同，从而导致雄性和雌性性激素的不同。然而，XY染色体的差异也是造成性别差异的原因之一。含有大约80个基因的Y染色体只存在于男性身上。相比之下，在女性(YY)中，X染色体上10%的基因(约100个基因)不会执行失活，因此女性这100个基因的拷贝数是男性的两倍。然而，由于技术缺陷，人们对XY染色体引起的性别差异知之甚少。本课题以野生型XX雌性小鼠为研究对象，通过杂交建立了XX♀、XX♂、XY♀、XY♂小鼠，并收集了其心血管功能的基线数据。

There is gender difference in susceptibility to certain diseases and responses to drugs. This is partly attributed to the different gonad determined by SRY gene on the Y-chromosome, and resultant different sex hormones between male and female. However, the difference in the XY chromosome also contributes to the gender difference. The Y-chromosome containing about 80 genes is present only in male. In contrast, in female (YY) 10% of genes (about 100 genes) on the X-chromosome do not execute inactivation and thereby female has copy number for these 100 genes twice as many as male. However, the gender difference caused by the XY chromosome is poorly understood mainly because of technical deficit. In this project, we established XX♀、XX♂、XY♀、XY♂ mice by cross-hybridizing XY- SRY mice with wildtype XX female mice, and we collected the baseline data for cardiovascular functions.
