The goal of this research project is to elucidate the theoretical basis of admissibility of scientific evidence and propose the concrete standard for it. For this goal, I examined the various kinds of admissibility standard for scientific evidence in the common law countries (U.S., England, Australia, and Canada) and the civil law country (Germany).As a conclusion, I support the position of U.S. and England, and insist that there should be a reliability-based admissibility test in Japanese criminal proceeding. This admissibility test should cover not only scientific evidence, but also non-scientific expert evidence. This is because a trier of fact doesn't have enough knowledge to assess the reliability of expert evidence which is often technical and complex. However, I assert that such test can be included under the concept of relevancy, just like the position of Canada. This is because the concept of relevancy in Japan is more comprehensive than that in U.S. and England.

本课题旨在阐明科学证据可采性的理论基础，并提出科学证据可采性的具体标准。为此，我考察了英美法系国家（美国、英国、澳大利亚和加拿大）和大陆法系国家（德国）对科学证据的各种可采信标准。综上所述，我支持美国和英国的立场，并坚持在日本的刑事诉讼中应该有一个基于可靠性的可采性测试。这种可采性检验不仅应包括科学证据，也应包括非科学的专家证据。这是因为事实审判者没有足够的知识来评估专家证据的可靠性，而专家证据往往是技术性的和复杂的。但是，我认为这种检验可以包括在相关性的概念下，就像加拿大的立场一样。这是因为日本的相关性概念比美国和英国更全面。
