本年度はプエブロ出身の作家である、Leslie Marmon SilkoそしてSimon J. Ortizの作品群に焦点を当て研究を進めた。６月に中四国アメリカ文学会で発表を行なった研究論文「Leslie Marmon SilkoのAlmanac of the Deadにおけるヴィジュアルイメージの役割」では「写真」や「映像」が「死」を表象していることを明らかにし、その「写真」に部族アイデンティティ回復における「物語」の「生」の力が対比されていることを指摘した。「生」の力を象徴する「物語」に「死」を象徴する写真や映像を内包することで、本作品がSilko独自の環境正義追求の物語になっていることを論証した。本論文は平成２９年度に『中四国アメリカ文学会』に投稿予定である。２０１７年２月に38th Annual Southwest Popular/American Culture Association (SWPACA) Conference(ニューメキシコ州)で、研究論文「Outer Landscape and Inner Landscape in Simon J. Ortiz’s Men on the Moon」を発表した。本論文では、短編集Men on the Moonに描かれる環境不正義問題を明らかにし、アメリカ南西部のランドスケープの描写に焦点を当て、「土地」「文化」そして「共同体」が象徴するものを考察し、本作品がプエブロ伝統文化の継承と環境不正義への抵抗の作品であることを論証した。２０１７年２月、ニューメキシコ州とアリゾナ州を訪れ現地調査を行った。大学の図書館やアメリカ先住民関連施設を訪れ、文献調査や資料収集を行った。また、作家本人、環境不正義問題の活動家、ストーリーテラーにインタビューを行い、現地でしか得ることのできない大変貴重な情報を得ることができた。

This year, Leslie Marmon Silko and Simon J. Ortiz's works are in focus. In June, the Shikoku Literature Association issued a research paper entitled "Leslie Marmon Silko's Almanac of the Dead", which was criticized as "photo","image" and "death". "Life" image characteristics,"death" image characteristics,"photo image" inclusion, this work is Silko's independent pursuit of environmental justice,"story" argument. This paper is scheduled for submission to the "Nakashikoku Literature Association" in the 29th year of Heisei February 2017, 38th Annual Southwest Popular/American Culture Association (SWPACA) Conference(), research paper "Outer Landscape and Inner Landscape in Simon J. Ortiz's Men on the Moon" presented. This paper focuses on the description of environmental injustice in the short compilation Men on the Moon, and examines the image characteristics of "land","culture" and "community". This work demonstrates the inheritance of traditional culture and the resistance to environmental injustice. In February 2017, a field survey was conducted in the state of University Library Research and Development Program, Literature Research and Data Collection The author himself, the activist on environmental injustice, the author himself, the activist himself.
