英文摘要
In the FY 2017, fieldworks have been carried out in Nakatsu tidal mudflat area in Nakatsu City, Takatsu River basin in Shimane Prefecture and Aya town in Miyazaki Prefecture. Through these fieldworks, socio-cultural valuation of ecosystem service (ES) analysis, drivers of ecosystem service change, and challenges to ecosystem conservation from a local and bottom-up perspective has been carried out. Methods applied in the fieldworks include face-to-face questionnaire surveys, focus group discussions (Nakatsu case), and in-depth interviews (Takatsu River case and Aya town case). Questionnaire survey was used to explore the different provisioning and cultural services people enjoy from the coastal seascapes. At Nakatsu, face-to-face questionnaire survey has been applied with different stakeholder groups (i.e. fishermen, birdwatchers, NGOs, nature protection groups farmers, farmer-cum-fishermen, forestry practitioners, government officers, local businessmen) to reveal provisioning, regulating, supporting and cultural services from the mudflat ecosystem and the socio-cultural perceptions of the stakeholders towards these ESs. The Nakatsu case has been approached from a cultural service perspective especially, and the different bundles of ES that are linked with cultural services were explored. The researcher is engaged in delivering public lectures and reports for the local communities. The Takatsu River case and the Aya town case, narratives have been used through interviews to track the changes of their watersheds as experienced by the local community.
