本年度は、敦煌文献「妙法蓮華経講経文（擬）」の写本研究を行うとともに、仏教的内容を附与された中国歴史故事の写本学的考察、及び讃文の書換に関する基礎的考察を進めた。現在5点の写本を残す「妙法蓮華経講経文（擬）」は、敦煌学の分野において、長らく識者の注目を惹いてきた資料である。先行研究においては、該講経文が俗講と呼ばれる講経儀礼の台本であると度々指摘されてきたが、本研究は5点の写本を総合的に捉え直し、書写方法や経文の敷衍方法に着目することで、各々がいかに異なる聴衆や法会の場を想定した講経文であるかを解明した。また、10世紀の敦煌、延いては中国に流布した『法華経』が主に7巻本と考えられ、当時8巻本が中心となった日本と異なる流布の一端が垣間見られた。本成果は、講経文研究であるとともに、東アジアの『法華経』の受容を促す基礎的成果として位置づけられよう。また、伍子胥の伝を主題とした「伍子胥変文（擬）」を取り上げ、現存4点の写本の相互比較や、各写本の諸特徴の解明を進めた。また、墨の濃淡や加筆訂正から、その利用の実態を明らかにするとともに、写本の実見調査により、「薬名詩」を書写した紙の劣化から、その広い受容の実態を明らかにした。これらの考察は、伍子胥の伝が、仏教的要素を含む故事として流布する過程でいかに書写伝承されていったかの一端を示す成果であるとともに、法会に使われる中国歴史故事の受容の理解にも繋がるものである。そして、龍谷大学所蔵西域文献の調査を通して、「須大拏本生譚」を主題とする讃文の民間における流布を解明する基礎的研究を進めた。それは、仏教儀礼文書である讃文が、民間層を対象としていかに流布し、受容されていったかの考究でもある。法会関連文献は多岐に亙るが、講経文、文学文献、儀礼文献等の多様な文献の写本学的考察を通して、東アジアにおける仏教文献の伝播の理解に資する成果となった。
