项目摘要

当研究者は西洋音楽の根幹的規則を形成する和声の法則に学術的関心を払い、研究を続けてきた。この研究の主眼として当研究者はもっぱら、18世紀フランスで活躍した音楽家J.-Ph.ラモーの音楽理論書に焦点を当て、特に博士論文ではラモーの『和声の生成』（1737年）を扱った。当『和声の生成』はラモーの長年の理論的思索が結実した、一つの到達点とされる。この著作は読者として当時のパリ王立科学アカデミーの会員を想定しており、ラモーは当時の音響物理学の成果を援用することにより倍音という自然現象が音楽の基礎かつ源であることを示そうと試みた。この試みは必ずしも成功せず、当時の数学者・科学者たちから厳しい批判にさらされた。しかし彼が打ち出した“基礎低音の理論”（一般に“根音バス理論”として知られる）は西洋音楽の基本法則を説明したものとして急速にヨーロッパ中に普及し、その影響は今日にまで至る。当研究を推し進めるにあたり、二つの軸が想定された。そのうちの一つは、当然のことながら『和声の生成』の精読と、この邦訳を作成することである。ラモーが活躍した時代から約三百年が経つ中で、現在に至るまでラモー理論は一次資料に拠らない伝聞情報によって伝播してきた向きが強い。当研究では一度ラモーの原典に何が書かれているのかに立ち返り、和声学の由来を確認することを目的とした。もう一つはヨーロッパにおけるラモー理論の普及の様相を確認することである。特に当研究者はインターネットで接することのできないラモーの著作の翻訳等を現地の図書館・研究機関で実際に目にし、それらの訳の実態を精査した。この結果明らかとなったのは、ラモー理論も他者を通じて、あるいは翻訳を通じて伝播していく中で、さまざまな誤解や変容を被りながら後世に受け継がれていき、その先にわれわれの和声の理解がある、ということであった。
