操作変数を用いた分位点処置効果の部分識別の手法の開発と、この手法を応用して、雇用形態が就業状況及び収入に与える効果の実証分析を行うという目的に向け、先行研究の調査と問題点の整理を行った。具体的には以下の通りである。Abadie, Angrist and Imbens(2002)では、処置を受けるかどうかの決定に自己選択が関与する場合など、観測されない変数（内生変数）が処置に影響を与えている可能性がある場合、操作変数によって行動を受けるような部分集団について、処置効果を点識別する方法を示している。しかし、誰が当該部分集団に属するかを特定できないため、政策上の意義があいまいであるという問題がある。そこで、この部分集団についての結果を、母集団についての処置効果識別に利用することを考える。操作変数を用いた平均処置効果の部分識別においては、母集団の期待値は、繰り返し期待値の法則を用いて、操作変数に対する反応によって条件づけた期待値の期待値によってあらわすことができる。しかし、分位点識別効果の場合は、条件付き分位点と条件のない分位点の間にそのような線形の関係がないため、どのようにして条件付き分移転についての情報を母集団の分位店の識別に利用するかが問題である。また、個人の就業状況の変動を、近い過去に依る（しかし遠い過去の影響は受けない）確率過程として分析する方法を検討している。すなわち、個人の就業状況を、正規雇用、非正規雇用、失業のいずれかの値をとる、過去N個の状態履歴に依存して決まるN階マルコフ連鎖とみなしてモデル化するのである。
