本年度は、1960年代の金ドル本位制崩壊期におけるイギリスの通貨政策の重要性に鑑み、同政府のポンド危機への対応及び第二次EEC加盟申請の通貨政策への影響に焦点を当て研究を進めた。前者の課題については、『法学政治学論究』において「第一次ハロルド・ウィルソン政権における通貨政策―ポンド切下げをめぐる政治過程、1964-1967年」という表題で公刊した。この論文では、イギリスのウィルソン政権における平価維持に関する議論の推移を踏まえ、国際通貨協力の中心的存在であったアメリカとの交渉によって、切下げの決定と実行に至った過程を分析した。イギリス政府の内外における議論を一次史料に依拠して双方向的に跡付けることで、当該期における同国の通貨政策の有り様をより立体的に描き出すと同時に、同政府の通貨政策と金ドル本位制に基づく国際通貨システムとの相互作用を明らかにした。叙述に際しては、イギリス政府及び西側主要国の通貨当局者たちの認識を、特に国際通貨システムにおけるポンドの役割に注視しつつ考察し、さらに従来の研究では捨象されてきたイギリス政府内に設置された秘密委員会での議論にも射程を広げた。イギリスの通貨政策のみならず、国際通貨システムが安定的に運用されるための条件の一端を示すことが出来たと言う点では、非常に分析視野が広い論文となっている。後者の課題については、政治経済学・経済史学会ならびにヨーロッパ統合史フォーラムにおいて、口頭発表を行った。イギリス政府が1965年半ばから67年11月にかけて行ったEEC加盟に向けた内外での協議において、フランス政府によって加盟への障害とみなされたポンドの国際的役割や安定化に関わる議論にどのように対応したのか検討した。EEC加盟に向けた文脈の中で、国際通貨システムにおけるポンドの地位をイギリス政府がどのように捉えていたのか、その一側面を明らかにすることが出来た。
